Flat and Felt Roofs.
Existing fascias, soffits and gutterings to felt roof areas have to be carefully removed and the felt edges need to be renewed in most instances. Covering over the existing timber Roofline is a cheaper alternative but this is not the ideal solution. Many companies cap over the existing rooflines to felt roof areas to avoid disturbing the felt drip edges and avoiding having to fix new drip edges to these areas. Also this makes the gutter sit further out than it did originally and can make the rainwater miss the guttering and then it will drip in between the new fascia and gutter, resulting in dripping water torture every night!
After removing the existing roofline we then install a new P.V.C.ue roofline using stainless steel fixings.
We then install a new drip edge to the perimeter of the felt roof which enables the rainwater to fall correctly into the guttering and not in between the fascias and gutter, which can then drip on to windowsills or the floor below.
When there is a different material to a felt covering on a flat roof I.e. rubber membranes/ fibre glass / polyester resin etc an appropriate alternative can be done.
